Pharmacological properties The drug is a combined preparation containing ambroxol hydrochloride and cetirizine hydrochloride. Ambroxol hydrochloride is a mucolytic agent with bronchosecretolytic, secretomotor (expectorant) action. Stimulates the formation of surfactant, normalizes altered bronchopulmonary secretion, improves the rheological parameters of sputum, reduces its viscosity and adhesive properties, increases mucociliary transport, facilitates the removal of sputum from the bronchi. The drug does not cause excessive secretion, reduces bronchial hyperreactivity. Cetirizine hydrochloride – a selective blocker of peripheral histamine Hi – receptors, a hydroxyzine metabolite, has an antihistamine, antiallergic effect. Prevents the development and facilitates the course of allergic reactions, has antipruritic and anti-exudative action. It affects the early stage of an allergic reaction, and also reduces the migration of inflammatory cells: it inhibits the release of mediators involved in a late allergic reaction. Reduces the permeability of capillaries, prevents the development of tissue edema, relieves spasm of smooth muscles. Eliminates skin reaction to the introduction of histamines, specific allergens, as well as cooling (with cold urticaria). Reduces histamine-induced bronchoconstruction in mild bronchial asthma. It practically does not have a sedative effect when used in recommended doses and has practically no anticholinergic and antiserotonic effects.
